There is a need to develop and refine psychosocial interventions improve functioning in First Episode Psychosis (FEP). Social cognition neurocognition are closely linked psychosis; examinations of pre- post- intervention may provide insights into the mechanisms these interventions, identify which individuals most likely benefit. Cognition was assessed within multi-site trial Recovery Therapy (SRT) for with FEP experiencing poor (<30 h weekly structured activity). Fifty-nine participants were randomly allocated therapy group (SRT + Early intervention), 64 treatment as usual (TAU - early care). at baseline 9 months; assessors blind allocation. It hypothesized that social would following therapy, those better prior benefit from SRT. no significant impact SRT on individual neurocognitive or cognitive variables, however, joint models addressing patterns missingness demonstrate improvement across number outcomes Further, regression analyses showed who had (ß = 0.350; 95% CI 0.830 8.891; p .019). not clear if impacts function, be beneficial baseline.

Neurocognition and recovery in first episode psychosis.
Cognitive functioning has been found to be a predictor of functional outcome of schizophrenia. It is unclear, however, whether clinical recovery can be predicted by scores on specific cognitive domains. The predictive value of specific neurocognitive domains and other clinical variables for symptomatic and functional outcome and clinical recovery after a 2-year follow-up is explored in a group ...

Patients with psychosis display alterations in social cognition as well as in the realm of neurocognition. The purpose of the present study was to investigate (i) to what extent alterations in social cognition represent an independent a...

BACKGROUND Patients with psychosis spectrum disorders exhibit deficits in social and neurocognition, as well as hallmark abnormalities in motivation and reward processing. Aspects of reward processing may overlap behaviorally and neurobiologically with some elements of cognitive functioning, and abnormalities in these processes may share partially overlapping etiologies in patients. However, wh...
